Jack n’ Jill Natural Toothpaste Review and Giveaway

Bunny is old enough to brush her teeth now. She has 10 teeth! And she’s working on 2 more! Where did my baby go?!? Bunny accompanied me to the dentist at my last cleaning, when she was about 10 months old. The dentist said it was time to start “brushing” Bunny’s teeth. The dentist said no fluoride toothpaste until Bunny is 2 years old. We started brushing Bunny’s teeth with a wet tooth brush with no toothpaste. She was fine with that, until one day she grabbed our toothbrush and put it in her mouth. She discovered toothpaste! I was not very happy that she wanted to suck the toothpaste taste off our toothbrush. I imagined all the chemicals going into her tiny little body. After she tasted our toothbrush, she wanted nothing to do with her boring, plain old toothbrush. So began my search for baby safe, organic toothpaste suitable for my Bunny.

On my google search I can across Jack n’ Jill toothpaste. Jack n’ Jill toothpaste is certified organic AND has a “zero” safety rating on EWG’s Skin Deep database (check it out). That is the safest rating possible! (I try to stay at or below “two” on the EWG’s rating scale on all products.) The toothpaste is fluoride free, sugar free, color free, has no preservatives, and has organic flavoring. The packaging is BPA free and has recyclable packaging. It is made in Australia! I couldn’t wait to get some for Bunny to try!

I received the raspberry flavor toothpaste, a compostable and biodegradable tooth brush, and a sleepover bag to pack them in. The packaging was minimal and eco friendly. (Yay!)

Sleepover bag, raspberry toothpaste and biodegradable toothbrush.

When it came time to brush our teeth that night, I was excited to see if Bunny liked her new toothpaste. We both tried her new toothpaste. All it takes is a little drop on the middle of the toothbrush. Bunny immediately took to the toothpaste. She did not whine for my toothbrush. We both happily brushed our teeth! Bunny liked the flavor and allowed me to brush her teeth, then had a turn at brushing her teeth. Win for mom! I thought the toothpaste tasted pretty good, it wasn’t overly sweet, and it wasn’t a strong flavor. It was a nice smooth, subtle flavor which is good! I don’t want Bunny to think toothpaste is a snack or candy. I did notice when I brushed my teeth that the tooth brush squeaked against my teeth. Not a bad thing, just not something I am used to. Bunny did not seem to mind, however. After I was done brushing my teeth I was interested to see how my teeth felt. I was worried they wouldn’t feel clean because this is a product for babies, toddlers and kids, AND it is organic. I am happy to say my teeth felt GREAT! My teeth felt as clean as when I used my adult toothpaste.

Bunny LOVES this toothpaste, and so do I! I like that I can let her “brush” her teeth (aka suck on the toothbrush) as long as she wants and not feel bad about the chemicals in the toothpaste. Bunny likes this toothpaste so much, she ends up brushing her teeth for at least 10 minutes! I like this toothpaste so much, I bought two more flavors! Banana and blueberry. They both taste great! The flavor is not too much, doesn’t overwhelm you. It is just enough. I highly recommend this toothpaste. I can’t wait to try the other flavors, blackcurrent, and strawberry.

I love this product so much, I am giving away a raspberry toothpaste!

Adventure Walks with a Toddler

Bunny LOVES to be outside. LOVES it! She would spend all day outside if I let her. Unfortunately she has VERY fair skin and can’t spend all day outside! Every day we go for a walk, what I like to call an adventure walk.
Our adventure walk has no time line and no route. I let Bunny lead the way. We often backtrack a million times. Bunny really enjoys waving at the cars on the street. If she hasn’t seen a car for a while, she will backtrack to the last spot she saw a car.

The texture and size of the tree were captivating.

I don’t tell Bunny where to go or what to do on our adventure walks. I make sure she doesn’t go into the street or get into anything dangerous or unsafe. Other than that, I let her dictate the walk. I make sure I have at least 30 mins to spend with her on a walk. I try to really see and experience what she is seeing and experiencing. I may see these surroundings multiple times a day, but to Bunny, everything is new. The other day, Bunny spent five or so minutes chasing a leaf that was blowing in the wind. To me, that is a simple experience, but to Bunny it is new and exciting and something to learn about and from.

I love watching her explore the world. I can almost see her brain working, trying to figure out the new things she is experiencing.

I love her little shadow!

Even grass is something to be explored!

Adventure walks end when Bunny get fussy, hungry, or needs a diaper change. I try not to push my timeline or directions on her. This time is special for her, it is all about her and what she would like to do. I follow Bunny and make sure she is safe and allow her to explore. I find great joy in the little things she shows me. I learn how to be happy and see the world anew when I go on adventure walks with Bunny. If you have a little one, I challenge you to go on an adventure walk! Leave a comment to let me know how it goes! You might be surprised what your little one teaches you!

Aden + Anais Burpy Bib Review and Giveaway

Aden and Anais burpy bibs are by far one of my favorite baby must haves! Babies go through SO MANY burp cloths. I know when Bunny was an infant we went through at least 4 burp cloths a day! We used a couple different brands, but I honestly don’t remember what they were! The Aden and Anais burpy bibs were, and still are, our favorite. All the other burp cloths and bibs got shoved in the back of the closet.

LOVE the full coverage
Aden and Anais burpy bibs are the perfect shape and a great size, they cover all of your shoulder. Have you ever had a baby spit up over the back of your shoulder? These burp cloths will help contain that mess!  They fit the curve of your shoulder and have a pattern on either side so it doesn’t matter which side you use, or which shoulder you put it on, it always looks good! The most import part is, it keeps you nice and clean!

When Bunny was an infant I never went anywhere without 2 or 3 of Aden and Anais burpy bibs in the diaper bag. When Bunny spit up the Aden and Anais burpy bibs were there to clean it up! Because the burpy bibs are so absorbent, I could wipe up a couple spit ups before I needed to use another burpy bib. Aden and Anais burpy bibs are SUPER soft. I always knew Bunny was nice and comfortable when she rested her head on the Aden and Anais burpy bibs.
Nice and soft.

My favorite part of the Aden and Anais burpy bibs is, once Bunny outgrew the burp cloth stage, she graduated to the bib stage, and these burpy bibs were still useful! We didn’t have to buy any bibs, we could continue to use the burpy bibs. We still have 2 or 3 in the diaper bag at all times!
Aden & Anais burpy bibs are so cute!
When Bunny started eating solid food we tried the typical bibs (hand me downs and baby shower presents). The typical bibs were nice, but Bunny always got food on her clothes. The typical bibs mainly have velcro closure, which never stayed closed or on Bunny! Bunny could easily rip those bibs off. The Aden and Anais burpy bibs cover more of her clothes, and she rarely gets food on her shirt when using the Aden and Anais burpy bibs. The Aden and Anais burpy bibs have a snap closure, Bunny has never pulled these off! Bunny only tried once or twice to pull them off, but once she realized she couldn’t, she stopped trying.
We have had the Aden and Anais burpy bibs for over a year now. They are easy to take care of and get softer with each wash. The Aden and Anais burpy bibs we have are super soft and still have vibrant colors. Bunny is a year old and we are still using Aden and Anais burpy bibs for every meal time, and most snack times. We go through at least 4 bibs per day. (I like to give her a fresh bib at every meal.)
I really love the versatility of the Aden and Anais burpy bibs. They grow with your baby.   Two in one products are my favorite. With the Aden and Anais burpy bibs you don’t have to store the burp cloths when your baby is too big for them, and you don’t have to buy bibs when your baby is nearing the age of needing them! The burpy bibs are sturdy and soft, and hold up well with daily use and laundering. I won’t have to buy new ones when we have a second baby, the ones I already have will work just fine! They don’t break over time, they actually get better!
Great for catching excess milk!
Good for catching spit up!
Bunny liked to chew on them, they must feel good on teething gums!
Aden and Anais have expanded their burpy bib line to include more than just their amazing cotton muslin burpy bib. They now offer bamboo burpy bibs, organic cotton burpy bibs, and terry velour burpy bibs! With all the cute colors and patterns, it is hard to choose just one! Aden and Anais burpy bibs are available here.
Aden and Anais burpy bibs make a great baby shower gift! I wish I could give one (or 10!) to all of my friends with babies. I am happy to be able to offer one of these amazing burpy bibs to one lucky reader!

Lillebaby Complete Carrier Review

I was sent a Lillebaby (pronounced Lil-la baby) COMPLETE soft structured baby carrier to try out, a buttery soft Black Organic version. The Lillebaby Complete is a carrier that you can use from birth until you are done wearing your baby! I received the Lillebaby when Bunny was 11 months old and roughly 16 pounds, 30 inches tall (she is currently 13 months, 18 pounds and 32 inches tall). I have used a soft structured carrier since Bunny was 2 months old. I was still wearing her at least once a day, and for extended periods of time. When I took it out of the box, the first thing I noticed was the lumbar support. It looked big and weird. I honestly did not think it would be comfortable and thought it was silly. I had been carrying Bunny around for months and never needed any back/lumbar support! The first few times I used the Lillebaby, I did so without the lumbar support. After a few days, maybe a week, I decided to try the lumbar support. OH MY GOODNESS! I wish I had used it the first time! It REALLY did support my back, and it DID make a difference. I found I could carry Bunny for long periods of time and my back didn’t hurt. I didn’t notice the difference until I used the lumbar support. Before I used the lumbar support I did not notice my back was hurting when using other soft structured carriers because it always hurt after a while, that was normal to me. Sure the lumbar support looks silly, but once you wear it and feel the difference, you won’t care!
The next thing I noticed is the padding in the Lillebaby. The Lillebaby has thick padding all around the carrier. The shoulder straps are VERY comfortable in the Lillebaby. There is also padding on the back connector, which I have never seen before, the side straps, and the waist belt has a lot of padding.
Another thing I noticed about the Lillebaby is it has an adjustable neck support near the hood. I did not need to use this with Bunny as she was old enough, with good head support, but I could see how this would come in handy with a newborn. My complaint about this feature is, in order to have the hood up, you have to have the neck support up as well. I nurse Bunny in my carrier all the time. ALL THE TIME! (Today I nursed Bunny in the Lillebaby while I was shopping at the mall. My friend had no idea she was nursing until I asked Bunny if she was all done.) When I nurse Bunny in the carrier I like to have the hood up. It offers some support for her head so she can be lazy, helps to block out the scenery and allow her to drift off to sleep, and allows me to be covered a little bit. Bunny doesn’t need the neck support, but it HAS to be up to use the hood. This makes some extra work for me. Not a big deterrent, but certainly not a plus when you have a hungry, impatient baby.
Hood up with neck support up
Neck support up but unbuckled- Bunny’s head would be squished against me if it was buckled.
The Lillebaby has an adjustable seat so you can customize it to your baby’s size. I have not had to adjust the seat because Bunny is big enough for the seat as it came in the box. If you were to use the Lillebaby with a newborn you would want to adjust the seat to better fit your baby. The adjustable seat is what makes the Lillebaby carrier okay to use forward facing out.
You can forward face facing out using the Lillebaby, although I have not tried this. You can also back carry with the Lillebaby, and you can carry your baby on your hip, often called side carry. I don’t normally carry Bunny on my back or on my hip as she prefers to be front carried. I did try the side carry with the Lillebaby and it was pretty comfortable. When you use side carry you don’t need to take off the lumbar support, but you can if that is more comfortable. The lumbar support is pretty easy to remove.

The organic material on the Lillebaby is super, super soft! I love the black but would like the option of a print and am glad to see Lillebaby now offers some prints.

This truly is the complete carrier. If you only had to buy one carrier, this would be it. You can wear your baby as an newborn all the way to toddlerhood. The Lillebaby COMPLETE grows with your baby. There are many different ways to wear the Lillebaby, with all the options you don’t NEED another carrier. The Lillebaby COMPLETE is reasonably priced, $115-150.

Toddler Tumbles are sometimes a blessing in disguise!

When Bunny was born she had a hard time nursing. When she was 3 days old she was diagnosed with a tongue tie. She still had trouble nursing even after it was clipped. When Bunny was 10 months old she was FINALLY diagnosed with an upper lip tie. I was very frustrated when we found this out, the ENT and Lactation Consultant should have check for a lip tie. Most of the time when there is a tongue tie there is also a lip tie. We were told it would be best to wait to correct the upper lip tie until her adult teeth were coming in, around age 6. The procedure would involve numbing her mouth, cutting the upper lip tie out, stitches in her lip, and multiple doctors visits. Doesn’t sound like fun. I so wish she was diagnosed with this when she was 3 days old, it could have been taken care of so easily then with little pain and little to no recovery time!

A few days ago Bunny fell, like a toddler is prone to do. She bumped her mouth and was bleeding. Her lip was fat, we assumed that was where the blood was coming from. She did not cry too much, and was happy with an ice cube. We didn’t think anything of it. Today, Bunny fell AGAIN! I guess I should get used to her falling, she is trying to go faster than her little legs allow! She seemed fine after she fell, no tears or anything. A few minutes later we were eating a bagel and I saw blood on her bagel. UH OH! I opened her mouth to see what was going on and much to my surprise I saw HER LIP TIE WAS NOT CONNECTED ANYMORE! She must’ve detached it when she fell!!!

The extra bit of skin on her lip used to be attached to her gum, in between her two front teeth.

This is GREAT! It means no correction is needed when she is older! No pain for her, no tears from me, no huge doctors bill. No trauma!!! I did NOT want my 6 year old to have to go through that. This also means Bunny’s adult teeth won’t have a gap between them! (Her gap is adorable right now.) Bunny’s lip tie was so bad she wouldn’t let me lift her upper lip to look at it, she would always fight me. I could never take a photo of it because she would thrash around whenever I tried to look at it for more than a second. The following photo is similar to what Bunny’s lip tie looked like before she fell.
I am so thankful a tiny toddler fall corrected her lip tie. I was hoping something would happen all on its own so my sweet little girl wouldn’t have to endure any pain later in life. Another bonus- Bunny was able to nurse WITHOUT the nipple shield, latching and unlatching all by herself for the FIRST TIME since we started using the nipple shield! 13 months old, maybe we can start weaning from the shield!!!
